Bill and Karen Novak have owned Williston
Saddlery since October 1978 and sell name brand
saddles, tack, Kiefer Built trailers, Purina
Feeds, and Red Line trailer parts.
Karen is the daughter of Alvin & Dorine Gabbert
from Lefor, N.D. south of Dickinson. They raised
registered Angus cattle and Quarter Horses.
Alvin trained for the public and the family
showed and rodeoed. Alvin was inducted into the
NDCHF in 2005. Horses they were recognized with
were Bullet King, King Trumpet, Mr. Lobo McCue,
Keen Gal, Apache of Littleman Creek, they
competed in all classes offered at shows and
won. Alvin won the NDRA calf roping title and
Karen's older brother Dan, won the team roping.
Karen won the NDHSRA all around cowgirl honors as
a freshman & sophomore, the only years she
competed. Karen has a BS in Elementary Education
and taught before going to work in our store.
Bill was raised near Williston, N.D. on a
diversified farm, combination dry land &
irrigation that included dairy, potatoes,
alfalfa, wheat, etc. He was raised with grade
horses until a 1969 breeding of his first
registered QH. He also has a BS degree with
majors in Mathematics and English, and taught
Jr. High School for nearly 10 years.
Since teaming together we've always stood a
stallion to the public.
First Lightening Pride with ROM Points in 5
events.
Next was Quincy Dee Twist shown in cutting and
earning over 40 points in reining qualifying for
the AQHA World Show in 1981 and 1982 and
finishing in the top 10 in 1982.
Now we handle Genuine Diamond Doc, we purchased
him as a three year old and completed his
Superior in reining along with qualifying for
the AQHA World Show in 2002-2003 with the good
help of Joey Jorgenson of Fisher, MN. Genuine
Diamond Doc is a full blood brother to
Shining Spark! After
completing his Superior reining, we put him in
the capable hands of JD Yates, AQHA
Professional Horseman of the Year 2005. He has
qualified Jr. for the World in team roping along
with earning over 50 points at his first 4
roping circuits, the best earning 14 heading &
14 heeling points with the Sioux Empire show in
S.D.
Along
with running our store Bill attended CSU in Fort
Collins to become certified in collecting and
processing equine semen for shipment as well as
AI refresher course for mares. He was first
certified by ABS in 1971.
Karen enjoys trail
and cutting with young horses and especially
enjoys finished horses with "power steering".
Bill enjoys reining, calf roping, cutting and
free style reining.
We've been married
since June 6, 1977 and work together raising and
riding a few very good horses. We don't raise a
lot but try to have a few really good ones all
the time. We sell a few and try to help our
clients sell those sired by our horses if they
choose to. |
